Portfolio- When it comes to assembling your portfolio, it can be frustrating. I remember in college, my PRSSA chapter held a workshop showing us how to make a portfolio, and even after the workshop we all were still confused.
So, instead of bring different folders or putting it in a binder, go to staples and have it all bound together! The portfolio above cost be $4.74 and the tabs I got from Walmart for $2.50!!! (Before you start to think the obvious)— Adding new things will be a hassle, its not really a problem. The lady at staples said that when I wanted to add more or take out anything all you have to do is pay for the new spiral bind, which is $2.00 .
I went on a recent job interview, and they were very impressed with my portfolio. I think mostly about what it looked like :) .
So what is in it???
I have my cover/title page, behind that is my current resume and references. Then I added tabs, and put writing samples from my current internship. I unfortunately, didn’t write for my school paper, so I was lacking writing samples like that. Thank god I am a PR major and had a lot of projects that I worked on in college, such as a press-kit, graphics (brochures, magazine ad) and a PR campaign book that I did for my last project in school.
BUT- if your not a PR major, you can include anything that you worked on really :) I hope this helps you all who are wondering how to make a portfolio :)
